With dreams of a summer to come
the game begins.
The scent of freshly cut grass Hangs in the
air, as the sounds of bats cracking and mitts snapping
fill the park.

A marathon ensues, through the
heat and sunshine.

The joys of winning, and the bitterness of defeats
take their toll, as the weather grows
cold and gray.
Calling of strikes and outs rise in their gravity, as the
crowd cheers in approval.

And then the game that spans the globe concludes
leaving the spoils of victory to warm up a
frigid winter.
Since I was watching a baseball most of tonight, it almost seemed natural to write the last poem I needed to do on baseball.

And personally, I actually like it quite a bit. (I guess having freedom to do whatever I want is pretty helpful for writing poetry :XD: )

I would say that having the freedom to do whatever you want IS pretty helpful for writing poetry. Afterall, poetry is usually about expression, right? And you can't express yourself too well if you're limited, I think. That's just my opinion, though.
